Chocolate Po’ Boy Bread Pudding

Ingredients
  • 1 (1-pound) loaf New Orleans-style French bread, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 4 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Pinch ground nutmeg
  • 2 (4-ounce) bars bittersweet chocolate, chopped
  • 1 cup chopped pecans, toasted
  • Buttery Rum Sauce (recipe follows)
