When Hurricane Harvey was set to hit Houston, nobody, not even science and weather experts, predicted how catastrophic it would be. But as thousands were quickly displaced and rescued, they filled up shelters all over the city. So when Joel Osteen‘s 16,000-seat Lakewood church wasn’t one of those shelters initially, outraged people called out Osteen, calling him a hypocrite who doesn’t practice what he literally preaches to the huge congregation he presides over.

Joel has since opened the church, after several conflicting claims about flooding circulated. When he was asked what that whole situation was about, he explained. Click on the audio player to hear more in this exclusive clip from the Early Morning Evening News on the “Ed Lover Show.”
