Paris Hilton, the quintessential heiress, started off as a tabloid staple with her relationships and party life taking center stage. It all came to a head when her sex tape, “1 Night In Paris“, with then boyfriend, Rick Saloman, was leaked to the public. Despite the humiliation, Paris was able to turn the tables in her favor and in the end created a brand empire worthy of the Hilton name all her own. Thanks to the hit reality series, The Simple Life, Paris, along with best friend Nicole Richie, were catapulted to instant fame. Paris went from heiress to celebrity. Let’s take a look back at some of the best moments.
Paris started out modeling and signed a contract with Trump Modeling when she was 19. After appearing on a few magazine covers, and the buzz she generated, Paris became more of a party girl and known for hitting up the hottest parties in L.A. and New York. This led bit parts in films like Nine Lives and Zoolander.
Three weeks before the premiere of her reality show with fellow socialite, Nicole Richie, “1 Night in Paris” drops.
The Simple Life airs December 3, 2003 and is a ratings hits. The first episode gains 13 million viewers.
That same year, Paris began dating Nick Carter of the Backstreet Boys. This of course didn’t last a year.
In 2004, Paris release her autobiography, Confessions of an Heiress. It became a New York Times Best-seller.
In 2005, Paris gets her first starring movie role in the horror flick, House of Wax alongside Chad Michael Murray and Elisha Cuthbert.
The Simple Life was canceled on Fox after three seasons in 2005 following a feud between Paris and Nicole. Hilton’s only response at the time, “It’s no big secret that Nicole and I are no longer friends. Nicole knows what she did, and that’s all I’m ever going to say about it.” It’s been speculated they fell out after Richie showed one of Hilton’s homemade sex tapes to a group of their friends. The pair made up in October 2006.
E! picked up the fourth season following the pair’s makeup with the first episode getting 1.3 million viewers.
August 2006, Paris released her debut album Paris, with “Stars Are Blind” as the leading single. The album debuted at no. 6 on the Billboard 200.
Not long after, Paris was arrested for a DUI, getting her license suspended and sentenced to 36 months of probation and a $1,500 fine. However, January 2006, she violated her probation by driving and failing to enroll in a court-mandated alcohol education program, prompting a judge to sentence Paris to a 45 day stay in jail.
For the next few years, Paris returned to the world of reality and bit parts in TV and movies, though none were as successful as The Simple Life.
In 2012, Paris debuted as a DJ at a Brazilian pop festival. She was paid $1 million for the gig.
2013, made a cameo appearance in the film Bling Ring based on the string of celebrity robberies of which Paris was a victim of. Other celebrates included Lindsay Lohan and Orlando Bloom.
Paris, since 2015, has been releasing music to promote her upcoming second album. As of now, there is no release date for it.
As of 2017, Paris is busy managing her different clothing lines, perfumes, and other ventures. But she did take a minute to appear in the music video for Demi Lovato’s new single, “Sorry Not Sorry”.
